Red Cross Certifications

As a Red Cross student, you will obtain the most up-to-date lifesaving knowledge and skills to respond when moments matter confidently. Our comprehensive courses include First Aid, CPR, Lifeguarding, and Water Safety Instruction.

 

Lifeguard Class

Our detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills and comprehension on written tests. The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR, and AED training, is valid for two years.
 

Prerequisites:

Be at least 15 years old by the beginning of the class.

Must pass a pre-course swimming skills test before taking lifeguarding courses.

Candidates must demonstrate and proficiently complete of the
following:
  • 300 Yard Swim
  • 2 Minute Tread
  • A Timed Brick Test

Water Safety Instructor Class

Our detailed course trains instructor candidates to teach all of the Swimming and Water Safety program courses to all age groups, plus Learn-to-Swim Levels 4-6 and Adult Swim. This certification is the gold standard and provides the most comprehensive training for swim instructors.
 

Prerequisites:

Be at least 16 years of age by the end of training.

Pass swim skills evaluation:

Candidates must demonstrate and proficiently complete 25 yards of the
following strokes:
  • Front Crawl
  • Back Crawl
  • Breaststroke
  • Sidestroke
  • Elementary Backstroke
  • Butterfly.

Maintain back float for 1 minute.

Maintain back float for 1 minute.

Maintain treading water for one minute.
